Idea Behind The Foundation /
The Foundation’s President
At the age of nine Mohamed Kallon, President of the Foundation was living the life of a street child in the slums of Freetown, Sierra Leone. The road he travelled along to become the internationally known footballer he is today was rugged, difficult and challenging. But with self-belief, hard work, diligence and commitment he became the man he is today. Mohamed was fortunate to meet kind people along his journey who helped him en route.

Mohamed Kallon loves his family and friends dearly. He is a family man, with two young children and acknowledges how lucky his children are to be born into a secure life style. It is for this reason that he launched the Mohamed Kallon Children’s Foundation; with a purpose to home and educate Sierra Leone’s under priviledged children, which would include the formation of a children’s home to be constructed, operated and maintained by the Foundation.

The Mohamed Kallon Children’s Foundation is a non-governmental organisation that seeks to rehabilitate and develop under-priviledged children within Sierra Leone.

Formed in 2008, the Foundation’s headquarters are at 27 Charlotte Street, Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. Members of the team will travel to rural and urban communities within Sierra Leone to find children in need of help.

We believe that the lives of children and teenagers should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination. The Foundation believes in the abused, the vulnerable, the forgotten and the neglected.
We will support them, stand up for them and bring out the best in each and every child we work with.

The Foundation believes that it is never too early or too late to offer help to the most disadvantaged children and the opportunity of a better childhood and a brighter future.

Every child regardless of race, disability, gender, religion or sexual orientation should be fully included in every aspect of community life.

Mohamed has never forgotten about the people who helped him survive while he lived on the streets. Without their help and guidance he probably wouldn't be where he is today.
Due to the war an estimated 700,000 of the displaced were Sierra Leonean children and youth; some 9,000 were
maimed, orphaned or separated from their parent(s). Mohamed states that he alone cannot come to the aid of the thousands of children in this situation, but he aims to make a difference in the life of a few.
